Originally from North London I spent my young adult life working with photographers by day, while creating electro indie music, running events and performing live, at night.

At 19 I dropped out of art school, leaving the cutting edge, BA in Experimental Film and Video at CSM, to focus on my music career. Some years later, in 2005 I had the great fortune of being accepted at CSM once more, to study a PGCert in Professional Photography. I graduated with a distinction for ‘Circle of Friends,’ an in depth exploration into the nature of portraiture.

In my 20s while writing songs I also wrote children’s books, five of which have been published, the most successful, ‘Sometimes I like to curl up in a ball,’ first published in 2001 was republished in 2018 by Walker Books.

A huge shift occurred over a decade ago when I moved out of London to explore living communally. From intentional communities to spiritual retreat centres, these years have been rich and expansive, giving me new experiences and teaching me many skills including large group cooking. Connection and companionship in community does not come without tension and resistance, living cooperatively has provided an invaluable opportunity for deep personal transformation, and continues to do so.

In 2018 while living and working at a retreat centre in Oxfordshire I found the opportunity to study an MA in Creative Writing, at Oxford Brookes. Working through the pandemic proved a huge challenge but I finally graduated in 2021 and proudly received a distinction for my final project, ‘Small Pieces,’ an experimental poetry collection exploring memoir through words and images.
